Advice/help needed - town or beach?

Hi, we are flying to Palawan after 6 days in Boracay where we are dragon boat racing on the sea. We are struggling to decide where to stay in Palawan, as we will already have had 6 days on a beach do we go for a beach location again or sample a bit of city life in Puerto Princesa trying out local restaurants. If we decide beach again anyone have any suggestions for beach locations not too far away from Puerto Princesa, my husband cannot travel far by bus which unfortunately rules out El Nido. If we decide Puerto Princesa would we be disappointed?

It doesn't rule out El Nido. You can fly here from Caticlan with Air Swift and also to Coron with Air Juan.

How were you planning to fly to PP? Via Manila or San Vicente?

If its beaches you seek I would skip PP and choose either El Nido or Coron. The island hopping there is sensational.

As Dubson has mentioned direct flights from Boracay are available so no long bus rides required..

Could Sabang be an option for us? Would it be possible to visit islands if we did stay in PP?

Only Honda Bay which will be a disappointment compared to El Nido and Coron island Hopping.

You should have asked this question before booking your flights.

However, there are flights to San Vicente for Port Barton, and Coron from PP with Air Juan. If you have time you could spend a few days in PP then head further north.

You can get to Port Barton by road as well. Duration from PP is about 3 hours.

Thank you for replying and your advice. Have looked at several options and taking into account our busy competition week in Boracay, our lack of time, luggage weight restrictions and age (we are in our 60’s) we have decided to have a chill out stop in Sabang. Island hopping may not be the best for us.

Good restaurants are limited in Sabang but the best two places to stay are Daluyon and Sheridan, which both offer good food but quite expensive compared to other places. Sheridfan has a great swimming pool but the accommodation at Daluyon is better.

Quite often the red flag is flying at Sabang and it is forbidden to swim. You could take a mangrove tour or see the underground river. When you arrive at the airport there are desks outside which arrange shuttle transfers for the 80 km trip to Sabang.

If you stay in PPC you can island hop in Honda bay but nothing spectacular, but if you go the lunch buffet at 200 pesos on Cowrie Island is a bargain. No island hopping in Sabang. You could spliut your time between PPC and Sabang (don't know how many days in Palawan) but there are some very good restaurants in Rizal Avenue, PPC----Kalui, Blue Pinoy, Artsian, Kinabuchs, La Terrasse.
