For desserts you must try halo-halo, leche flan and the various rice cakes.

If you have time or by any chance you come to Pampanga you can try this place http://baledutung.com as their delicacies are all original Filipino cuisines. But you have to make a reservation though. Thats a must go place for foodies

If you really want to see how many locals eat, visit any local carendaria you can eat at many of these places for 30php to 50php. A portion of rice usually 10php then each dish 10 to 20php. Try Ampalaya cooked with egg a traditional favourite eaten by many

Hi,

Phoenix is spot on right.

Just a word of warning - Philippines is not exactly a mecca for food lovers (sorry to be so blunt). The only places I liked the local food were -

a) Legazpi (Bicol food - a bit chilly, but lots of coconut milk which makes it tasty)

b) Bacolod city (without doubt, excellent food and very tasty)

Other dishes (adobo, sisig, etc) may not always appeal to the non local palate.

By the way, there is a chain of restaurants called New Cabalen which serves buffet Filipino food in nicer surroundings. For the record, I never liked it, but I know that my Filipino friends love it.
