North Sumatra trip

Hi everyone,

We have been to north Sumatra for 7 days and it was an unforgetable holiday for our family. Our trip to Bukit Lawang, Brastagi and Lake Toba three places.

We strongly advice to use a air-com car if you travel with young children.

Our driver Bob, recommended by Pam was very friendly and helpful. if anyone is interested in using his service you can contact him on his handphone: +6281361164282.

Hi Simpleguang,

Oh, I am so happy to read that you had a good time with Bob your driver and English speaking guide- he really is a lovely, friendly, helpful and responsible person.

I have known him now for 3+ years and take great pleasure in recommending him because he is dedicated to giving the traveller a memorable hassle free time.

Did you take any photos of your trip?

Will they be put up on one of the free photo sites- I would love to see them.

Regards,

Pamela

Hi,

To Pam - Sorry we only brought a video cam for the trip. Btw, did you hear from Bob? He told me he's going back to his parent's home in Padang for their new year.

To Frodo - yes, we stayed in Horas family home in Samosir and the kids had a great time there.

Thanks for your help guys

Hi,

Yes, I have heard from Bob - I smsed him to say you had written about him on Trip Advisor- he was very happy about that.

But sad because his grandmother's house in Pariamin has been destroyed by the earthquake but she is ok.

He and friends were collecting money in Medan and then heading down to see what they could do for her.

Such a sad time everyone- I am so heart broken by what has happened in Padang- a special city for me in Indonesia where I have close connections with many people since my first visit in 1997.

Hi, my wife and I are thinking of visiting Sumatra with our two boys, 3 and 6 years old. We were also thinking of visiting Bukit Lawang, Brastagi and Lake Toba and maybe up to the very top for some diving. I would be interested to hear your opinion on whether it is safe to travel particularly with children.

Hi,

Perfectly safe and the children will be the centre of attention everywhere they go.

If you would like some info and maps just email me at pamela_fuge@yahoo.com.au

I feel very envious of you as I would love to be going back there soon but alas must stay home and work.

I fully agree with Simpleguyang for comfort and safety with your children go for your travelling for a private car with air condition. I understand that Bob is very good. Should Bob not be available I would be happy to help you arranging for alternative in the same category. For families with (small) children Horas Family Home in Tuk Tuk, Samosir, Lake toba is one of the best places to stay.

Hi,

Just realized that the only contact given for Bob is his mobile number.

Here is a small website created by a friend for Bob.

http://sumatra-adventure.weebly.com/contact-us.html

Please note the prices are not correct, best to discuss a plan with Bob via email and he can quote you a new price.

I agree that an aircon car would be better for children. Also, pPamela is quite correct that children would be the centre of attention wherever they travel in Sumatra. I live in Bukit Lawang and it is great to see familys travelling together.

I would be happy to advise further if you haven't already got everything sorted.
