4 Days itinery and General Questions/Mt Merapi

Hi All,

We re going to Jogjakarta next mont and this will be our first trip there although we have been to many arts of Indonesia. We are there for 4 days and would be most happy if you can help with th following:

1. We want to visit all the usual major tourist sites. Can we also do Mt Merapi in a 4 day itinery? Is it easy to find a guide to go up and sow the area?

2. With Mt Merapi, what tourist sites would you recommend? (with Prambana and Borubodur of course)

3. How mch is the exit airport tax?

Thanks all in advance.

do you intend to climb Mt Merapi or just do a tour in that area??

If you just want to tour that area, just go for the lava jeep tour and ou can get the guide and the jeep for rp 250,000 at kaliurang.. It can be done in half day and combined with places such as Borobudur or Prambanan..

However, if you want to climb the mountain, might need to dedicate one night for that.

Rp 100,000 for departure tax..

Thanks Stefzzz, I was thinking of actually cimbing Mt. Merapi. Do you have idea how much it costs to have a guide, including the return trip to get to the trailhead? Thanks once again

Hi there,

I was in Jogja just last month and did the Mt. Merapi trekking. We did not do the overnight one. The one we did was a 6-7 hour walk through valleys, gorges and rivers, en route to the slopes of Mount Merapi. The walk started at 4am to watch the sunrise which was simply beautiful.

We paid 450, 000 Rp per person and this includes transfer to and from hotel, trekking guide, entrance and parking fees, a simple breakfast before the climb and a big feast after the climb!

I would strongly suggest that you climb Mt. Merapi than to take a jeep. The experience is worth it and you don’t have to be super fit to do it.

We did this by a private tour so a little more expensive, I think there are other cheaper options if you want to do direct.
