Java Trains: Eksekutif or Bisnis?
Save

Hello,

we would like to go by day-train from Bandung to Yogyakarta and do not know which class we should take: Bisnis or Eksekutif.

Which class is better to take photos from the landscape? Can you open the windows and are they clean and clear enough to make photos through the glass?

I've heard that Eksekutif class is very cold due to the AC and you can you can not stand it for the whole trip. Is this true? On the other hand if there are fans in the Bisnis compartment it might also be easy to catch a cold. What is your experience?

How comfortable is Bisinis compared to Executif? Are there many hawkers running around in Bisnis or is it ok and possible to have a relaxed trip?

In case of Eksekutif class: Is it the same on Lodaya train and on Argo Willis train?

Does anybody now the touroperator "javatourism.com". Are they reliable to book tickets an pay with Paypal?

Thank you very much in advance for any information

Hi,

Eksekutif is very cold and you will need a jacket or at least somethng around your shoulders like a wrap or warmish shawl.

My friend booke dmy ticket for me in May 2008 in Eksekutif from Bandung to Jakarta.

Luckily he gave me a lovely shawl in warmish material as a gift and I put that around my shoulders and neck for the journey.

Fans in Bisnis is probably a much healthier option because the heat outside can be unbearable after an 8 hr trip in avery cold train.

Sorry cannot remember if there is much difference between the two.

I have caught the 7.30 am train in bisnis to Yogjakarta from Bandung and thoroughly enjoyed my trip- the scenery is really beautiful along the way and the 8 hrs just flew.

Just booke dthe day before and got a seat.

Why would you book in advance unless you are going at celebration time after Ramadhan?

Pamela.

Dear Pamela,

thank you very much for your detailed reply.

The only reason for booking in advance is that we have limited time for organising the tickets and I have no idea how long it takes to get them at the railway station. We used the train from Jakarta to Yogya in 1992 and I do remember that it was quite a hassel at that time to get the tickets.

We need them for 4 persons for travelling on a Tuesday in End of August which is already Ramadan time. So I just wanted to be on the safe side and thought about having it organised by Javatourism.com who will deliver them to the hotel. Of course this is much more expensive and I hope they are reliabel.

Once again many thanks for your information.

Hi,

You should have no problem getting tickets, especially as you are traveling during the week. You can buy tickets up to 30 days in advance and the queues at are hardly ever longer than 10 or so minutes. During Ramadan is quieter than usual as well.

I would 100% recommend Eksekutif over business for two main reasons. The first is Eksekutif has aircon and the second is that it is hawker free. Business is both hot and has lots of hawkers going back and forward. On overnight trip the hawkers will even wake you to be 'sure' you don't need anything.
