I understand that yes, Canadian passport holders will need to purchase a visa upon arrival to Indonesia. Once you arrive there will be counters to line up and purchase the VOA.

If you are the holder of a Canadian passport, you can purchase your visa on arrival at Denpasar Airport. US$25.
It's real simple, bring $25 US dollars and you get your visa right there at the airport. We were out the airport door and on our way in probably less than half an hour.
You can also pre-purchase a 60 day stay tourism visa (index211) from the Indonesian Embassy or an Indonesian consulate in Canada. The cost is CAD$55.00.
You will need to enter Indonesia within 90 days of issue.
