Beijing to Lhasa

I will be traveling from Beijing to Lhasa via train between JAN 2-4 '08 and I was hoping to find out what to expect for food service...

From what I read its local food, but what is that? Rice and meat of some sort? Its is completely unpalatable for a western palate?

Anyone have any recommendations for what type of food to take along? I was thinking about taking backpacking food that just requires hot water.

Thank you.

1. Re: Beijing to Lhasa

Just bring your own food eg instant pot noodles, bottled beverages, cookies, biscuits, sweets etc.

I don't know what's on offer on the Lhasa train's dining car, but I never eat on Chinese train dining cars anymore after that one experience. Expensive and not worth it.
