i don't know how many are there in HK, but the one we always go to is pretty awesome, not just for the Vodka "freezer" drinks, but their food is really awesome. The have live music too, (which I personally find a little annoying)... it's really loud sometimes, can't really talk over dinner as a result.

33 Wyndham St, Lan Kwai Fong

Central, Tel:3579-2929

They also have another branch on Kowloon side. Kuntsford Terrace (next to Miramar Shopping Center).

I only go to the one in Central. Never been to the one in Tsim Sha Tsui Knutsford Terrace.

There is one in Soho called V13 (go on a Tue for live music) but the one at Langham's Tsar Bar is much better for a good selection.

We went to the Balalaika in Knutsford Terrace for dinner one Friday evening in November and had an excellent time. The place was packed when we arrived at 9 pm and atmosphere was great as there were a number of large groups of all nationalities. Groups arrived and went throughout the period we were there so it seemd continually busy though started to thin out around midnight.

The duet were excellent and through them we developed an appreciation of Russian folk music. There were a couple of young Russians ladies among the guests who encouraged us onto the dance floor with them as the duet played Russian pop tunes which we enjoyed - must have been the effects of the voda.

As you can imagine there was a variety of different types of vodka though nowhere to the extent of other vodka bars we know in the UK. There was a freezer room next to the bar where we enjoyed a shot or two with fur coats and hats though sadly we didn't take our camera. The bill at the end of the evening came to approx 85 pounds sterling for dinner for two, a bottle of wine and about half a dozen shots each of vodka. Probably expensive by Hong Kong standards but we're used to London prices.

Heartily recommended for the experience though we were to discover the next morning that it is a fallacy that overindulgence of vodka does not lead to hangovers.
