Overnight in Hong Kong

We are staying in HK overnight only - arriving at 6:30pm and departing at 3:30pm the next day. Would like to know:

(1) Where is a good area to stay which is:

a) easy to access the train to airport;

b) good choice of food nearby;

c) close to interesting tourist areas;

d) lose to some (night) markets;

e). accessible to HK Island Peak Tram, etc.

and

(2) what are some good medium priced hotels in that area?

Thanks!

Hello Carmel P

Welcome to Tripadvisor and the Hong Kong forum.

See the Top Questions (FAQ) section on the right side of this page to find answers to many of your questions.

For where to stay - see [Need a Hotel in HK] and [HK Island vs. Kowloon], Generally speaking, Causeway Bay (HK Island) and Tsim Sha Tsui (Kowloon) offer you all the conditions which you seek.

Not sure what you mean by medium priced hotels though. Hotels in HK are generally quite expensive compared to most places. To get a feel for the prices, would be best to use a hotel search engine and booking site like www.booking.com so you can see what is available in various areas of the city based on price ranges. The Top Question mentioned above offers some past discussions with regularly recommended hotels on this forum.

Hope this is helpful and that you enjoy Hong Kong.

You'll be doing well to cram much in to that short stay, if possible least stay another night :)

Night markets, search "Temple Street night markets'

For accomm in that vicinity to search 'Novotel Nathan Road' to give you ballpark.

Peak Tram is on other island - so you'll need to work out what's priority. Area like Soho that side could be good if that's what you wanted.

If you don't want take cab from airport you've got bus and train options.

Essentially wherever go in HK it's pretty condensed compared say Perth, so you don't stress too much over where you are.

I'd stay in the airport area and take the Airport Express to HK proper. It's a very short ride.

If cost is an issue and you end up staying near the airport, the bus offers a discounted same day return fare into the city and back.

I would recommend Tsim Sha Tsui which the location itself allow you to find the answer you need. Make sure you choose the hotel that located near MTR station so you can easily go any places and save your time as you haven't got so much time in the city
