5 hours in hong kong

hello

i will have 5 hours layover in hong kong from 5pm-10pm and was wondering if there was anything i could do in that time period.

i have heard of just taking a bus from the airport for a ride through the city and returning, which sounds pretty good to me

anything else near the airport or worthwhile that could be done in 5 hours?

thanks in advance

you can visit ngong pin village / giant buddha / citygate outlets which are all in 1 area and very near the airport.

you can also take the bus ride to the city which will take around 45mins to 1hr but that will leave you around an hour or so to see the city.

If you don't mind spending a few extra dollars I would take the airport express to Kowloon and make my way to the promenade. I love seeing HK island from the promenade at night when the buildings are lit up. Can't get enough of it. Be good idea to return to airport express around 8pm to make your way back. I think the trip from airport to Kowloon station is less than 30 minutes.

NeedGPS gave a good suggestion. Being at the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront, taking in the skyline on HK Island, will give one that "I'm Really In HK !" experience.

It'll take about 20mins one-way by Airport Express from the Airport to the Kowloon Station. A same-day return ticket will cost HK$100. At the station, you can take a taxi (approx HK$40) to the Tsim Sha Tsui Star Ferry Terminal and start your stroll there. Backtrack from the ferry terminal taxi rank to get back to the airport.

I think the airport bus is a better idea. The A21 bus costs HK$33 and takes an hour to get to Tsim Sha Tsui. On the way you will cross the Tsing Ma Bridge (views of HK island) and go through urban Kowloon. Once you get to TST, get off and take the star ferry to Central and back (around HK$2 each way). Then get a bite to eat or a drink, have a walk along TST promenade, before heading back to the airport by A21 bus again.

The airport express train is faster, but goes in tunnels much of the way so you don't get to see much. Also, it leaves you at Kowloon station which is out of the centre, so you will need to catch a shuttle bus as well.

Keep in mind that the airport express runs every 12 minutes. I think the bus runs about every 30. The busses are very punctual so if you decide to use it keep an eye on your watch.

Gothamcity. Whatever you decide to do, I hope you have a great time.

The A21 airport bus runs every 10 to 15 minutes between 5 and 10 pm.
