Dim Sum/Yum Cha: Am or PM?

I was told that this is a breakfast thing in HK, is it true?

Hope this is not a dumb question.

Can we have Dim Sum for lunch (12-3pm) as well or does this depend on the restaurant and location? Hope to have this while in Mongkok and Causeway Bay. Can anyone verify this pls? Thanks in advance.

Dim sum is often lunch. can be brunch or breakfast as well. If you like dim sum for lunch, I suggest you go eariler (say 11am-12noon) to avoid the busy hours.

Dim sum restaurants seldom offer student discounts.

But there are discounts or reduced rates for a particular time segment. For example, if you leave before 12:30pm, you get reduced rates. Some restaurants offer reduced rates on weekends and holidays becuase they locate at business areas, while some offer reduced rates only on weekdays because they locate at residential areas.

Thanks Tin for the prompt reply.

In regards to Katrina's quest. aren't the prices displayed outside the restaurants so that we can compare prices, sure some will be cheaper than others.

They usually don't display their prices outside. May be you can ask the receptionist.

Ever Fresh Restaurant in Causeway Bay is one of the restaurants where if you order & pay before 1230PM, you get discounted prices on dim sum. They also don't mind if you stay past 1230PM to finish your food.

They also have very good hot pot specials starting at 900PM including a HK $8 beef plate.
