Is it better to bring US dollars to Hong Kong for exchange or is it just as easy to exchange Canadian dollars. Thank you!

I always get a small amount of HKD's before I arrive and then use an ATM when I get there for the best rate.

Also in the list of Top questions about Hong Kong on the right side of this page, half way down or so, is "Exchanging money in HK".

ATMs are the way to go, but to answer your question, it is just as easy to exchange Canadian dollars as USD.

Canadian is fine, and then you don't have to exchange beforehand too so cut down on bleeding away money each time you do so. The best centrally located places to exchange are smaller independent places (mostly run by Indian or Pakistani blokes it seems) in Chungking Mansions in Tsim Sha Tsui or World Plaza near Central.

It's just as easy to exchange Canadian dollars, coz many money changers in HK

but don't change it in the airport, coz with the poorer rate.

For someone from Canada, not if one wants to save the 3% currency charge + ATM fee levied by the Canadian bank. CAD and USD exchange rates in HK are almost as competitive so you can bring either and the currency spread is less than 1%.

Sure, but how much money are you spending in cash that, say, 1.5% of it is worth any significant time and effort? At the standard recommendation of HK$500/day the saving is less than the cost of the MTR (one-way) from Central to TST!
