Beijing for 10 days in August!

Hi,

Myself and a friend will be travelling to Beijing in August to visit and stay with a friend working there.

Not sure where to begin with working out an itinerary for the 10 days!! Obviously we would like to do all the tourist places that are worth seeing with possible trips to HK or Shanghai (is that even possible or sensible within the 10 days?)

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

Both of us are dedicated shopaholics too and are hoping to fit in some shopping time.

Many thanks in advance,

Mel

Was planning on Xian for a day too.

Any idea what the cost would be roughly to go to Xian and HK for a few days? Have no idea as far as flights and how easy it is or accomodation.

Many thanks

Round trip from Beijing to Xi'an is about RMB2000/pax.Normally,we recommend that fly in early morning from Beijing, arrive there at 10am,to visit the Terra-cotta,Old City wall and White Goose Pagoda,Fly back to Beijing in the evening. This is very popular tour for businessman.

I wouldn't try to include Hong Kong in ten days.

You can also go to Xi'an or you could do some side trips from Shanghai to one of the water towns and Hangzhou.

Hi,

We've decided to limit our trip to either Shanghai or Hongkong. Can anyone give us an idea of cost for either to fly to and which would be best to visit for a couple of days?

Many thanks.

We are going in august also. We are travelling between Beijing and HK. I picked up what I think is a good deal on flights using Cathay Pacific. Check out the their web site direct.

We are using the train to travel between Beijing and Hong Kong. We chose this option as we thought the experience would be something different and we'd get chance to rest after Hong Kong before descending on Beijing!
