Restoration Orphanage

Hi there

We were in Mombasa last year and visited Restoration Orphanage. We gave clothes etc. and money to Pastor James. We are due to visit again during our holiday next month, but have just been reading some disturbing 'news' about Pastor James mistreating the children and not using money given to him for the orphanage. It is all a bit unclear.

Does anyone know anything about this? Would it be better if we did not visit? Is there anything else we can do to help the children?

Hope someone can shed some light on this for me.

Thanks

As anyone else ever noticed the worst orphanages are always close to 5* hotels and not matter how much money generous tourists donate, the conditions never improve.

I have a friend who took early retirement & went to live in Kenya to help one of these establishments. Within a few weeks he suddenly realised that all the kids were related to the manager and far from being orphans, their parents had all got jobs overseas. Unfortunately often the kids are just pawns in a money making enterprise
