1. Re: Sundowner?

A sundowner is where you drive to a vantage point to watch the sunset such as an area of high ground or a river bank. The whole point is to be there, drink in hand, in time for the sun to go down.

in the tropics the sun sets pretty much at the same time throughout the year, sundowners are drinks, often cocktails taken out of doors, whilst watching the sun go down. the location is usually somewhere with a view of a spectacular sunset.

I don't know exactly what it means at Fig Tree but as a sundowner costs $50 pp at Fig Tree, and has a minimum requirement of 4 guests, I would guess that you are driven to some spectacular location for cocktails and nibbles, and maybe it includes a short game drive on the way there. Hopefully someone who has been there will be along to give a definitive answer.

3. Re: Sundowner?

The classic sundowner is usually a gin & tonic but can comprise of any drink (preferably alcoholic). It is a topic to wash away the hard day you would have had on safari:) enjoy your sundowners:)
