@ Elizabeth,

Yes, simply go onto Traks4Afrika website and down load the East Africa map. It costs around ZAR200 or Us$20.

Download it to your PC not the Garmin. Then load onto a MicroSD. Fit this SD in the slot on the Garmin and select that mapset, via Tools, rather than the one in the Unit. That way you don't lose the original.

Good luck.

(I wonder if FL410 ever got the Aston Martin?)

Your average mobile phone will give your location to within 5 metres anywhere in the world (as long as your have internet coverage) and also useful for tracking people (with the recipients consent), the app is built into many mobiles by default and called Google Latitude.

Speaking of maps I see Google Earth have updated the Diani Beach area (16th February 2013) although oddly the default picture given is from 14th February 2005.

To see the latest picture you must click on > View > Historical Imagery> and move the slider to the right.

Nakumatt Diani can clearly be seen on the latest picture.

Whilst I am sure it is comforting to know where you are in the world within 5 metres (I already know that) I don't see it being much use in helping one get to where one needs to be.

A phone needs internet. A Garmin or other device only needs Satellites and a preloaded map and you are good to drive anywhere.
