<< have to work around kiringaya road and embakassi >>

Kirinyaga Road is in Town CBD & Embakasi is near the airport. Both on extreme ends for commuting.

Traffic jams during peak hours is horrendous btwn the 2 locations.

For $50, difficult to find anything decent & secure in NBO.

Kilimani is too far out, so drop that option.

Have a look at Comfort Hotel in CBD. A short walking distance to Kirinyaga. Not many budget accommodation options near the airport.

Slighty more expensive is Meridian (also in CBD)

As for veg food, there are plenty of fast food outlets like Pizza Hut, Dominos, KFC...etc + Hotel chefs can cook something up.

Good Luck

Both Enkare & Emeli are good options , however Emeli is much better.

Enkare is walking distance from Comfort Hotel. Btwn Enkare & Comfort is much better.

Seeing that you are Indian, there are some Hindu Temples close to Emeli, most notably Hare Krishna Temple.

Westlands is no where near Kirinyaga. Not many budget options in Westlands. Westlands is considered up-market suburb.

Taxi ride at 4.30 AM is a bit of a risky time to travel since it will be dark.

Are there any other flight connections in the day ?

Pride Inn is also very good, if you have budget for it.

There are 2 Pride Inns Hotels in Westlands to choose from.

http://www.prideinn.co.ke/hotels/westlands/

www.prideinn.co.ke/hotels/prideinn-raphta/

I'm pretty sure Pride Inn can organise a reliable taxi ride to the airport.

Food wise, Pride Inn serves indian cuisine.

Comfort Hotel is also quite safe & can also arrange a safe transfer to JKIA.

** Be advised, it's not safe to walk the NBO streets at night !! Indians are quite fond of walking the streets at night (back home in India), but not safe in Kenya. **

From JKIA to the hotel, pick up taxi at airport.

Good Luck
