4 days in Seoul, what should I do and where should I stay?

My husband and I are going to Japan for our honeymoon and will also visit Seoul for 4 days. I'm not very interested in going to the palace or the temples, since I think after Japan, we will most likely be templed out. Instead, we most likely will want to do is EAT, shopping, people watching, spa, and bars. I'm definitely interested in visiting Myeongdong and Gangnam. Which area do you recommend I should stay at and what are some of your recommendations for restaurants shopping, cafes, boutiques, etc. Thanks!

Go to Apujeong area in Gangnam to stroll Seoul's Beverly Hills. I second Myeongdong. Insadong is also nice, though a bit touristy. If you have 4 days you may want to visit at least one major historical site, this could be Hwaseong or Namhansanseong Fortress, not far out of Seoul, both offer nice hiking. If you can stand a palace, visit Changdeokgung Palace for its Beautiful Secret Garden.

Insadong and Buckchon Hanok Village are a must in my opinion. You'll take some great photographs there near the traditional Korean homes (hanoks). IP Boutique Hotel in Itaewon is a convenient location. I've stayed there and think it is quite nice and mid-range near the metro and the airport bus. Myeongdong is a lot of fun if you want to go shopping and try some Korean food. There are affordable massage parlors there. Try the Food Shop in Myeongdong for a foot or body massage. Near Myeongdong there is the Metro Hotel, Lotte Hotel, Plaza Hotel, Hotel President, and Ibis Hotel. I think the best bang for your buck in Myeongdong would be Metro Hotel, most luxurious would be Lotte or the Plaza Hotel. Hope this helps!

The reason I asked your budget is because Gangnam has some excellent 6 star hotels; Insadong area doesn't.

However please don't worry if you don't want to answer!

What area will you be staying in ? I suggest the myeongdong / jongno area either the metro hotel or sunbee .... Myeongdong has a night market every night with tons of street food and insadong street is closed every Sunday to cars .. For pedestrians only with tons of traditional korean food restaurants and street food as well ... I would go to at least two palaces within the city and then as a dy trip out of seoul ride the ktx bullet train down to suwon and then catch a taxi to the folk village yongin .., tons of activities and you can get a tastes of how korea used to be ... Get there early because its a full day , there's also the suwon fortress there which you can cab to after a few hours at the folk village ... Then have a fabulous Kalbi dinner before catching the late train back to seoul ...back in seoul you can take a kimchee or cooking class, go to a show (either traditional or something like nanta, I prefer traditional ) namdaemun is great for souvenir shopping and for buying gifts at good prices and they have a great food alley... Dongdaemun is a night market that consists of many buildings but about 10 pm street vendors also come out selling plenty of replica items etc... You could also go to lotte world ( go early for shorter lines) and then you could go to the 63 building for great views of seoul.... Noryangjin fish market is 24 hours which is amazing if you like sashimi ! U pick a fish they slice it up and then escort you to a restaurant that will cook the remainder of the fish in a stew ....for drinks ... There's hongdae which is a college area with plenty of clubs in a small area.... Itaewon is mixed with people from all around the world ...great for dinner and there's a few clubs there as well ... There's some great little places behind the street where Hamilton hotel is. Oh seoul tower if it interests you but I personally like the views from 63 building better..... Hope this helps !!!!!!
