Korail pass

Korail pass

- What's the difference between KTX and ITX?

- Does Korail pass covered KTX & ITX? I'm pretty sure it doesn't cover metro tickets.

- Plan to do 3 days day-trip , do you think it's better buy the 3 days saver or buy tickets separately?

Tried to google them but still so confusing

ITX is Intercity Train Express and it runs from Yongsan to Chuncheon. It's a train not that fast, more like subway style.

KTX is Korea Train eXpress and it is like high-speed train.

It's explained in the very first sentence on the Korail pass website.

Korail Pass is a rail pass for foreigners visiting Korea. Since it allows a pass holder to take almost all trains operated by KORAIL in a selected period of time, it is the most economical choice.

Available options:

KTX, KTX-Sancheon, ITX-Samaeul, ITX-CheongChun, Samaeul, Mugunghwa, Nuriro, O-train, V-train, S-train, DMZ-train, A-train, Westgold-train

* SRT, metro, temporary tourist trains are not included.

The other poster is wrong about ITX. It's VERY fast, much faster than subway to Chuncheon. Can save almost 45 mins - 1 hr depending on where you're going etc. the actual subway line to chuncheon is agonizingly slow and people straight up sit on the floor (which is something I've never seen on any other subway line haha)

ITX is included in KORAIL pass.

Thanks Michael. Plan for 3 a days day-trip from Seoul in mid November. Can't decide which city to go aside from Gapyeong and Jeonju. Any suggestion?

Two simple ways based on price:

Cheapest - bus from Gapyeong to Seoul, then at same bus station - take a bus to Jeonju

Faster - ITX train to Yongsan, then from Yongsan (or Seoul Station) take a KTX train to Jeonju

Seems like they there's no more 1 Day Pass? Do we have to buy x2 1 Way Tickets for a Busan day trip?
