Car Commute in Tbilisi.................?????????????

Hello All:

In all probability, I will be working in Tbilisi next summer.

Can I get by with a regular car in town? I am not a big fan of suvs/offroad/trucks. Had heard that some streets are pretty tore up in parts of the city.

I would primarily be going between Saburtalo/ Vake and the Digomi area.

Any info would greatly be appreciated!

Haha, it's not the surface of the roads you have to worry about, it's the drivers!!! Insane!!!

Yes- I know. I've been around a bit. Not from Kansas!

Now- some details?

Cobblestone streets? Tar? Concrete? Potholes the size of volkwagens?

How are the roads between Tbilisi and Batumi?

Many thanks in advance!

You'll be perfect with a normal car. The central streets are ok and if you will be living in Tbilisi, there is no need for SUV. The road between Tbilisi and Batumi is actually quite good. It's a bit adventurous drive for the foreigners I guess, due to driving peculiarities of local drivers.
