We spent 8 days traveling around Myanmar - we flew into Yangon from Chiang Mai, Thailand within 2 weeks of hearing of the new "visa on arrival" process. This turned out to be very efficient. We had completed the visa form before we arrived and had gotten the appropriate sized pictures. It should be noted that the requested size of the photos is not standard so if you are going to use this visa process make sure you have the photos of the correct size. Also you will need to pay for your visa in USD so be sure to have crisp new bills to for both for the arrival visa and also for the departure tax on leaving. We spent 2 days in Yangon and enjoyed our time there. We had a very knowledgeable guide, Mr. Kyaio Naing Thwin, who took us to all the sights and when i mentioned I wanted to see some handicrafts including wood carvings as well as old silk and tribal textiles he was very accomodating. Kyaio is a guide with Columbus travel and we booked our hotels, domestic flights, guide and cars through them and were pleased with the service. Kayio is a university graduate and speaks excellent English and has been a tour guide both in Mandalay and also Yangon. We would highly recommend him to our friends.
