traveling with three teens..... good ideas to interest them?

Am arriving July 20 for 8 days, have tour guide, so probably won't need much info.. but does anyone have any good ideas or experiences that my three teens would like in cities or Lake Inle? Once again, I have complete faith in my guide... but she doesnt have kids. so..... any thing that you found that would appeal to teens?

Many thanks!!

If you have a guide, particularly if your guide is a woman, she will likely bond very quickly with your kids, Particularly if you are caucasian, your children will receive a great deal of positive attention.

If they start to get sick of pagoda hopping, then just let them meet other kids their own ages. They will meet people playing chinlon (cane ball), badminton, soccer, and just having fun. If any of your kids is a girl, she or they will likely have Myanmar girls their own ages chatting it up with them, trying to paint thanaka on their faces, etc.. It is a VERY safe country for kids, and your children will remember this for the rest of their lives.

To summarize, make sure that the kids spend some time local kids their own age, and the experience will be so much more fun and rewarding for them. Your guide should be very useful in terms of translating, etc.

Hot balloon ride in Bagan even though expensive can be a lot of fun if you plan to go to Bagan

Other than the large cities of Yangon and Mandalay, it's easy for you and teeners to rent bikes (usually of the one speed variety) in destinations such as Bagan and Inle/Nyuangshwe. Bikes are a great way to explore Bagan but get a good fr eeDPS map that shows dirt trails making for easier/faster routes.

Likewise for Inle Lake, rent one in Nyuangshwe and ride the northside to the west half way down and back for a good excursion. Also some treks might interest them. Go to the colorful markets of Heho or Aungbang and experience the colorful sights and smells of these unique markets. They may even enjoy a visit to Pindaya Cave and just below, have a picnic amidst the 100s year old banyan/buddha trees
