Itinerary analysis, suggestions, critiques?

Hello to All,

I have never posted on this forum, but have been lurking for a while. I have gained much knowledge and valuable information from the many posters here. I am in the process of planning a 28 day trip for my wife and I to Myanmar in November. My wife is Thai and we have both travelled extensively within Thaliand as well as a few trips to Cambodia and Laos. We have e-mailed several of the travel agencies that are highly regarded on this forum. Two of them have responded with itineraries that appear to be very interesting. I have posted them below. I am open to any and all advice as to changes, suggestions, additions, subractions, etc. I do have a question. Is a guide necessary for this trip and if so at which locations? Thank You in advance for your help and suggestions.

Regards, Evan

These itineraries are very comprehensive, well-organized with good combination of sightseeing and leisure. The second one seems more interesting but you should contact the agency for visiting permit to Mrauk U accordingly.

Good luck !

I like #2 best because it includes Mrauk U which everyone raves about and it also includes 1 night more for relaxing at the beach. It all boils down to what your interests are. Both include about the same number of nights in Yangon, Bagan, Inle but #2 has less time in Mandalay. In #2 on 11/21 you are spending the night again in Sitwee. Would it be possible to get from Sitwee to the beach-assume Ngapali-the same day? If so you could then add that night to Mandalay. Are the prices about the same? That could be a factor for you to consider also.

I'm in the process of finalizing my itinerary for a March 2014 trip. Could you pm me with the names of the agents you used for these itineraries?? I only ask because #2 is almost exactly what my husband and I are looking for in our trip. Thanks.

The itinerary 2 # is perfect .Better to choose hotel near Yangon airport on return to Yangon from Golden Rock and Inlay lake to skip traffic in Yangon downtown.

My vote would be with Itinerary 2, but 1 is also very good. You do not need a guide throughout, if you need one specifically at a destination then your hotel can arrange one,or a knowledgeable driver, but a guide would probably essential for Mrauk U
