We hired "Tony" a driver and guide based in Yangon for 14 days of traveling through Myanmar. He is a very friendly and polite man who is always trying to please and taylor-make each experience according to the needs of his guests. For example, he would always find us Chinese food since we had trouble eating Myanmar food. He would stop for "bush toilets" along the way, because the squat toilet were too nasty. He would stop anywhere to let us take pictures, and even made stops to collect petrified wood near Mt. Popa.
He is always open to suggestions and knows less-crowded temples for sunset spots in Bagan, the best trekking guide in Kalaw, the quality tapestry shops in Mandelay etc. Tony is mature and a very safe driver, even with all the bad roads and craziness on and off the roads. Thanks to this fabulous guide, we have now a good understanding of the country and its people, as well as having enjoyed the most wonderful sightseeing spots such as my favorite: Inle lake and
Bagan. You can reach Tony at Myanmardriver.com
