It all depends on what you like from a resort and if you are taking kids and how much you want to spend.

Chantillys is close to trader vics and from what I have been reading on another forum, there is a lot of noise coming from trader vics at night. Chantillys is a lot newer than Le Meridien though and is closer to town, although Le Meridien isnt that far.

we have just returned from 7 days at Meridien. We have been past Chantillys, and it looks nice from the outside. it is however, right in town, so noise might be an issue. Meridien is an easy 20 minute walk or 5 minute drive, from the centre of town.

As far as the rooms go, again I can only speak for Meridien. We found the rooms to be very nice and comfortable, with all the amenities that we needed. Bear in mind that you are travelling to a country not that much above third world status. If you are expecting Gold Coast, or central Auckland standards, you are going to be disappointed. Building resources and skill levels are limited, and it does show up in their finishing levels. But, it is equally obvious that the people are making the best effort they can, with what they have available. So keep that in mind, and don't have unrealistic expectations.

I noted that previous people have complained about dampness in the rooms. We certainly didn't find that to be the case. However, remember that the air temperature is 27 degrees, with 85 percent humidity. If you crank the airconditioning up in your room too high, the air will release it's moisture. That's science, and there's no escaping it. So be sensible.

Meridien has good facilities for children, with safe pools, and organised activities.
