Avenue General De GAULLE

This is the mainstreet of Cayenne with 2 hotels, a good internet cafe , many shops and restaurants.

Cayenne is village city so one should not look for great restaurants.

Close to Place de Palmistes there is a nice nightclub name Number one. Siesta hour is from 1 till 4 in the afternoon.

Than the city is like a ghost town.

So if you are looking for a street where you can find everything

in Cayenne,go to AV. Gen. De GAULLE

Thanks so much for your post.

How much do the hotels run? There don't seem to be any on the Internet except the very expensive ones.

And I am curious about your general impression about the city and the country.

Thanks again,

Jim

One of the hotels is La Bodega. The singles are around € 35-40.They also run a cafe-bar,which is very popular with the locals,an ideal place to watch the street life of Cayenne.Well,in general everything in French Guiana is very expensive.Despite of that it still worth a visit.

Hi, Randjie, I'm going to French Guiana, but there's probably no point in staying only in Cayenne. Based on your experience, are there companies around in Cayenne that can take you into the rain forest, on river trips etc? If so,do you know if both daytrips and several-days-trips are available?

Thanks for sharing your experience.

Arne
