Last time when I visited, I haven't seen any construction work.

Getting a metered Taxi at the airport is not difficult.

You already got the rates form the other thread.

We stayed for a week at xmas in a club lounge room on the 7th floor, the hotel is excellent, décor is stunning and the rooms are lovely - rooms do not have balcony's. Pool area is large and has a excellent pool and it will be perfect in April. View is excellent as overlooks the mosque, tiny bit of construction outside the hotel and to the right of the hotel if looking from the beach, but not noticeable and nothing like Dubai. Fairmont links into the traders hotel, Shangri la hotel and small souk which has shops and some restaurants and a very small marina. The hotel is perfect for R & R and if you want to do things then pretty easy to get around via cab.

I would recommend the club lounge rooms which are more expensive than the standard as they offer extras like 3 hours alcoholic drinks and canapés in the pm, and light snacks and non alcoholic drinks in the day and free wifi. Wifi is not free anywhere else in the hotel. It is a great hotel and well priced.

Cab was about 8 uk pound from the airport. any other queries ask away.

if you like to eat out , id recommend the entertainer book which has buy one get one free vouchers on most main courses for hundreds of restaurants in AB in call the hotels at the Fairmont, traders and shangi la so is a very good saving. Also has vouchers for most attractions in AB.

We stayed there in August - it's one of the top hotels in AD. Ask for a mosque view room on a high floor (this is not one of the basic rooms). The food was great - Frankie's is popular among the expat crowd. You are very unlikely to be disturbed by any building work. The Shangri-La 5 mins walk up the road is very nice too for drinks and food (good Vietnamese restaurant) and the souq is close by too.
