Intercontinental Hotel.Situation re beach and building work?

I just adore a beach break but cannot seem to find any up to date info regarding the building work at this hotel.

We are currently booked at the Intercontinental Festival City Dubai for 3 days. We've stayed here before and it is a wonderful hotel but thought it might be nice to visit Abu Dhabi for a change. Its a 3 day well earned break for hubby before he heads back to Dubai on business

Would hate to change hotels only to find a building site on the beach.

Any info would be helpful and greatly appreciated.

I suggest you send a private message to travellers who have recently visited the hotel from the hotel review section. Another poster asked a similar question a few months ago and received no replies.

When I passed the Intercontinental a year ago (December 2012) there was lots of building work noise on the beach and directly outside the hotel (roadworks and building site next door), not sure if the situation has changed. Good luck!

Now the Nation Tower construction work is finished, only ADNOC head quarter work is going on. Therefore, the scene is not like Dec. 2012.

Constructions won't bother your stay in Hilton.

Do you mean Intercontinental?

I ate at the Fishmarket at the InterContinental on Wednesday and the beach area which is a short walk past the marina is still undergoing a lot of construction, although I think you can go to the beach. The pool area at the InterCont is large and completely separate to the beach so unless you really want to be on the sand I think the pool is going to be a more pleasant experience.

By the way (mainly to correct JeyaB) I walked round the Hilton/Breakwater/ADNOC end of the Corniche last weekend and it is like an obstacle course for pedestrians and I am sure this construction work would also have an impact on hotel guests. This comment doesn't impact the InterCont though.

It's almost impossible to avoid construction work of some sort in Abu Dhabi at present.

In my opinion if you want to be on the beach, the best hotels with beaches in Abu Dhabi at on Saadiyat Island.
