Going to visit Syria and then go to Beirut. Not sure what border crossing is best? Read as a usa passport holder I can get visa on arrival free to lebanon? How difficult is it? Is it better to do in usa first and pay the extra cost? Thanks .

There are three different crossing border between Syria and Lebanon , you can choose the entry that would matchwith your location ( Itinerary) in Syria. For instance, if you wanted to leave from Damascus, then you should take (1) al Masnaa. If you are in Homs, near Krack, better to take (2)al Jousiyeh, and if you are near Tartous area you better take (3)al Dabbosiah.
As for the visa, I advise you to apply for it from your country to avoid any delay at border. The visa to Lebanon is not for free. I think a visa costs twenty thousands Lebanese Lira. Good Luck!
Edited: 10 years agoThanks for your help. I am rethinking now that maybe it is bettre to have the visa for lebanon. The plan is to ge from damascus to syria. Which border crossing is best for that? Any idea how long it takes? Is it better by car with stops along the way? Maybe more expensive. I will be travling solo.
I Kurious, Damasccus is inside Syria! I assume you either want to get from Beirut ( In Lebanon) to Damascus (Syria) or otherway round?
The Syrian Lebanese border at Jdeideh is about 30 minutes from Damascus, by taxi. Dependingg on what time of day you leave, the border can be very busy and you can spend up to 2 hours plus if you catch the rush of tourist buses. I suggest you plan to cross the border by 08:00 to avid the crowds. You can also travel by bus from Damascus to Charles helou bus station in Beirut.
By taxi, traveling time to Beirut Central can be 2 hours and maybe longer by bus.
As of July 19, 2010 all United States and UK citizens with a valid passport can not purchase a visa at any entry into Syria.
I don't think he was talking about the Syrian visa... but rather getting a visa for Lebanon at the border.....
