Jordan, Oman, Israel....how long in each??
Save

Hi

I am looking to spend about 4 weeks travelling Jordan, Oman and Israel and I'm really torn between which countries I should spend more time in.

Firstly, I'm limited on time, but will 4 weeks be enough or will I be rushing things?

Secondly, how long would anyone recommend for each country? I'm looking at Oman first, then flying to Jordan then overland to Israel so I guess I'll be able to play around a bit with time in Jordan/Israel. But as I'll fly from Oman to Jordan, I'm keen for some advice as I don't want to end up not having enough time there, or waiting around for a flight with nothing to do if I could be in Jordan.

Thank in advance!

Thanks, this is really useful. I've had quite a few responses on Jordan/Israel but I'm struggling to find too many people who have been to Oman.

What would you suggest is the easiest way to get around?

There are lots of taxis available.Make sure to agree the price before you start the journey.Your Hotel may help you to find one.you may even take a rent a car if you are having valid international licence.but i recommend to hire a taxi.

Happy journey

Jordan/"Israel" depends on what you want to do. Are you talking about Palestine as well, or just the Israeli areas? I have spent a decent amount of time in the West Bank and would recommend no less than 4 days there for seeing some of the main cities. If you're going to Jerusalem for the first time, that alone needs 2-3 days.

The normal trip to Jordan is usually 7-10 days. That is for Aqaba, Wadi Rum, Petra, Amman, Dead Sea. If you are interested in taking some time around the north, or spending a couple of days in any of the places, you may want to bump it up to the longer side of the spectrum.

The perfect amount of time to get a taste of Oman is a week. If you want to go to Salalah (2-3 days is fine, can get there by bus or plane), extend it.

I would say... 1 week Oman, 2 weeks Jordan/OPT, 1 week Israel. If you aren't planning on spending time in Palestine, maybe split those days between Oman and Israel. If you aren't interested in Israel, split that time between Salalah and more Jordanian day trips.

Also depends on what time of year you're going.

Lots of variables, but you can't go wrong with whatever you choose. You will get the most out of your time in Oman if you rent a car. Unfortunately it isn't a budget travel-friendly country.
