Yes, it is safe to travel to Lebanon and enjoy a good stay.

In fact the number of tourists coming to Lebanon has dropped from 1,276,010 people in the first nine months of 2011 to 1,080,319 people in the first nine months of 2012 registering a decrease by 15%, prompting many five and four stars hotel to offer reduced prices per room per person

Tomorrow Sunday, November 4 is the second phase of the first edition of Achrafieh Festival www.achrafieh2020 .com just ten days before Beirut Marathon, other website related to Achrafieh is www.liveachrafieh.com.

The warning that you see on www.fco.gov.co.uk//en/news/latest-news appears and desappears sometimes many times a year it's just to warn tourists to take their utmost care while moving in Lebanon, this warning has been on the Foreign and Commomwealth Office website since almost the end of the Lebanese civil war, sometimes it remains for a long time and then suddenly desappear, some people have been acffected by it others disregard it and overcome their fear of any political terror that may occur during their stay in Lebanon

In fact, the world top ten countries with the highest reported crime rates are among the fifteen most visited countries by tourists mapsofworld.com/world-top-ten/countries-with…

I know a lot of tourists who not only visited the Bekaa Valley but also the Mleeta Resistance Tourism Landmark www.mleeta.com

If your intention is to visit regions in the south of Lebanon which are south of the Litani River or visit Naqoura you need a written permission delivered by the Lebanese Army checkpoint located on the Awali River bridge on the coastal highway one kilometer before the entrance of Saida,

Thanks

I was in Beirut 23 Oct. 1983 and would like to go and revisit the site of bombing that killed 242 Marines and Sailors to pay my respect to my lost brothers. Do I need to get permission from the Lebanese Army to visit and or a personal escort to do so?

You don't need any permission from anybody to walk in any part of Beirut.

You don't need any escort to visit the site which is on Beirut Corniche overlooking the sea.

A written permission is needed only for regions in south Lebanon which are south of the Litani River, in other word region in south Lebanon under UNIFIL supervision.

Thanks
