Christmas in Beirut

My wife and I visited Beirut for a weekend this past September, and loved it. So, we want to visit again over the Christmas weekend.

We stayed at the Gefinor Rotana and it was a very nice stay. But I guess it is in an area with a lot of businesses and not too much to do in the area. Though there were a couple of Cafes nearby. Also, it was Ramadan and that may have had an impact on thee night life. Any suggestions on another hotel closer to the action.

So, being the holiday, is there anything special we should look out for? We did Byblos and the Grottos. Thought maybe do the mountains or similar trip. We will really have only one full day for a tour.

All Good ideas. Thanks. I have read about Baalbeck and I think that would be a great day tour.

Since it will be December, are the wineries open? THat also would be a great idae.

BTW, we are planning on staying at the Casa D'or Hotel. It has received good reviews. What is your opinion?

Hi,

Ksara winery near Zahle is open 7 days a week and guided tour of the caves is organised without prior appointment between 09:00 a.m. and 06:00 p.m..

Casa d' Or hotel is a good one in the Hamra area.

As you are arriving to Lebanon in winter you can visit the Faqra Roman Temple with its nearby Faqra ski resort and if you have time continue some less than half an hour further to the international standards facilities Faraya - Mzar ski resort enjoying beautiful snow scenery on the mountains and the slopes. Both ski resorts are some less than one hour drive from Jeita Grotto.

Thank you everyone. Good ideas all. Definitely enough to keep us busy for two days, and even more. All the more reason to come back.

Hi,

You can spend a day in the Bekaa by starting off at Baalbek, continue to the ruins of Aanjaar, visit the wineries of Maasaya en route to Zahle, where you kan visit Ksara, continue past Chtaura to Clos St. Thomas in Kab Elias and then further down to Cave Kouroum and finish your tour at Chateau Kefreya which has a lovely cosy restaurant and great wine! for a cold winters day!

Thanks SheikofAraby. We are hooking up with a tour that will do pretty much the trip you suggested.

Though we want to see some snow, hopefully it will not impact our tour plans.
