Safe to go solo in Iran?

Hello all,

Just checking if Tehran and Northern Iran (Azerbaijan Province, Caspian Sea region) are generally safe (with respect to violent crimes) for solo travellers?

Would appreciate some precautionary advice, please.

Thank you and have a nice day,

Stephan.

Hi

Iran is definitely much safer than many European and Western cities.

Many solo ladies travel in Iran.

You just need to take the normal safety precautions.

Avoid walking late at night and in deserted areas. Also use official taxis. That's it.

Hi. Apart from the hospitality which Iran is famous for the next thing that catches your eye in traveler's websites and blogs is safety and security in Iran despite being part of a middle east. I'm sure you'll have the same experience.

I agree with poster no. 2.

And it should be easy for you to find a travel partner, male or female. Why not.

Hei!

After our 2 weeks trip to Iran I can confirm Iran is safer (and friendlier) then most of European countries. I saw several solo travellers (also femail) in different places of Iran. Don't worry, plan and enjoy your trip!

Iran is a safe country for sure. I returned back from Iran this Saturday. We were four girls traveled to Iran. We traveled late nights and used to get back to our hotel in late hours. But yes, you need to keep your eyes open and take basic security measures.

Well, Olivia, sorry you had a bad experience. I suppose that what you encountered can happen anywhere, but that doesn't make it any better for you. However, would you recommend Turkey, with the many bombings happening every now and then? Iran is no heaven for sure, but it has no terrorism... so it depends on what you consider

I will just add that people recommending Iran are not just Iranians advertizing their own country, but mostly foreigners, even solo female travelers, who were wramly welcome. But you will find scammers and dishonest taxi drivers everywhere.

Safe and happy travels to all!

I think that Olivia is a lier. I saw such liers on Moroccan forum several years ago. They pretend to be a western tourist who went there. I was glad that I did not listen to such "Olivias" and went to Morocco.
