Female traveling alone with stop over at Jeddah airport

Hi I am a 24 year old female traveling alone from Singapore to south Africa and I have a five hour stop over at Jeddah airport. I have read a couple of negative stuff regarding how women are treated at the airport and am not sure what to believe. Would someone be able to help me by telling me if I would have any problems during my stop over?

Many thanks,

Tash

Personally, I wouldn't transit in Saudi only because it would be a hassle to deal with any delays or problems. Having said that, I have travelled through this airport many times without incident. It is a small, boring terminal without anywhere to get really comfortable, but you shouldn't have any problems with harrassment. Dress modestly, including a loose jacket or scarf that you can drape around you. If someone does bother you, you could make a bit of a scene, which should scare him off quite quickly, or try to sit near other women/families.

Hi,

I flew back into the Kingdom yesterday, families and single women were given preferential treatment. I wouldn't expect you to have any issues.
