Taxi drive from Amman Airport to Aqaba via Highway 10?

We are hoping to do this taxi journey early in the day and assumed to go the most direct route. However, reading about and seeing pictures of the scenery along Route 10 is it ok/ not unusual to ask the taxi to take this route? Will it take much longer than the direct route and will the taxi driver charge more to go this way? Many thanks.

Hi

In Jordan there're 4 highways from the north of the country to the south 5 , 15 , 35 , 65.

so if you have a long day time , interesting to enjoy the excursion and a lot on route, select the Kings way, route 35, so you can visit Madaba city , Mount Nebo , Al-Mujeb canyon (Arnon river), Karak Castle (the Crusaders Castle) , Dana wild life reserve and proceed to your destination Petra or Aqaba, it's a long driver way but interesting.

The other option is route 15, the desert highway - 4 hrs driving to Aqaba.

Amman airport to Aqaba route 15 cost approx. 100.00 JOD.

The Kings way cost approx. 150.00 JOD.
