travel advice for day trips out of Amman

I am thinking of staying in Amman and on day 1 doing a day trip to Jerash and Ajloun...returning to Amman. Then on day 2 doing the dessert castles (Qasr Azaraq~walking on the Marsh Trail ~and Kharaneh and Qasr Amra) before returning to Amman. Then on day 3 beginning our trek down the King's Hyway.

Can day 1 and day 2 be combined? Is there enough uniqueness and difference aong the castles to see 3...or would one (which one?) suffice?

We will be there mid-February. Might weather be a factor?

Thanks for your help!

Welcome to Jordan,

You will do it all together "Jerash, Ajloun, and Desert Castles " IF you start from Amman at 7:00am.

The three above-mentioned castles not far from each other

The sunset in mid-February around 18:20

Please, do not hesitate to contact me for any inquiry

Enjoy

Ideally you can do this

D1 Jerash,Ajlon Umm qas

D2 Desert castles Kharana,Amra and Azraq including the hike.

D3 Dead Sea Madaba,Nebo.

D4 drive to Petra along Kings rd ,Wadi Mujib,Kerak,Dana Little Petra and end in Petra overnight.

cheers

Greetings from Amman !!

I don't recommend you combine the first and second day together, You will be in a rush.

As known Amra castle is the most famous castle of the desert castles.

Feb. & March is snowing season in Jordan.

Have a good one,

Mohannad Ali

If you combine day 1 and 2 you will a drive of about 340km so that will leave little time to visit the sites.

Not recommended!

Thank you for your helpful suggestions. Just what I needed.

My thought was to do Madaba, Mount Nebo, Um Al Rassas and the Kerak Castle via Wadi Al Mujib on our way to Petra. I was saving the Dead Sea for the return trip fro Aquaba.

Question 1: In February is it worth planning a trek through the Dana Nature Reserve?

Question 2: Is the above mentioned trip from Madaba to Petra doable in a day...with time to enjoy the sites along the way?

1. Yes, it's worth if not cold and rainy

2. Yes, start at 7am and you will have enough time to see all above mentioned sites.

Enjoy

We were in Jordan in Oct. Jerash ruins is fantastic and we skipped Aljun because we were told it is nothing compared to Jerash. Been to Karak castle (on route from Madaba to Dana village - 6hrs drive on ancient Kings Highway with photo stops). Karak castle is nice because it is a crusader castle and thus different from Jerash. Dana Nature Reserve beautiful, as is Wadi Rum. We stayed in Madaba in stead of Amman and glad we did. Lots in smaller Madaba to see and close to airport, Jerash, Amman, Mt Nebo, Bethany Baptism Site, Dead Sea, St Georges Church with mosaic floor and St John the Bapstist church

I am going from Amman to Petra in October 2014. I have also booked one night in Wadi Musa to do a desert Jeep trip.

Should I stay in Wadi Musa before I get to Petra or AFTER I have been to Petra. My next stop will be Aqaba for the last 2 nights before going to Tel Aviv.

Also, should I spend two nights or 4 nights in Amman? I want to see Jerash, Madaba, Dana Nature Reserve, Mt Nebo and Kerak.

Advice gratefully appreciated.

I am confused! Petra is in Wadi Musa. Where in Wadi Musa you have booked for one night? do you mean Wadi Rum Desert trip?
