Hotels in Tel Aviv - Beach or downtown?

Hi,

We are looking to book a hotel in Tel Aviv for three nights- preferably a good base to explore the city (Museums, beach, Jaffa, etc) and to go out at night. We were considering the Atlas hotels (Cinema, Art Plus, Shalom) and the Sea Executive Suites near towards the beaches and the Rothschild and Diaghilev which seem to be away from the beaches.

Ive seen a few forum posts regarding location, but was wondering if anyone had any specific recommendations on whether to stay near the beach? Also, any preferences between the Atlas hotels and the Sea Executive Suites?

Thanks!

You can't go wrong with any of the Atlas properties. The best, IMHO, is the Shalom & Relax.

I agree with Dave, especially if you are planning on visiting the beach before/after your days of touring. The Shalom and Relax is the perfect spot and nice hotel.

I would agree to be near the beach. Whenever we go to Tel Aviv (once or twice a year) we stay near the beach.

Staying at the beach is best. All hotels mentioned are good. The rooms at Sea Suits might be bigger, mainly those facing the sea bu will be more expensive.

The Melody is also an excellent choice - right next door to Shalom and Relax.
