Jerusalem Day Trip: Saturday or Sunday?

I will be with friends in Tel Aviv from Friday afternoon to Monday morning (Nov 30 - Dec 3). We would like to do a day trip to Jerusalem and would like advice on which day is better to visit: Saturday or Sunday?

If we had to pick, we would like to see the Christian historical sights first, however we would like to visit on the best day to see the most of the old city.

Also, any tips on how to get from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem on Saturday?

I would go on Sunday if you are planning on going on your own, as there is no public transportation on Saturdays. Some places are closed on that day, as well. Sunday, some churches are closed for the day, so it is sort of a trade off, so you need to decide which is more important to you.

Sunday would probably be preferable, but most old city attractions are fully operational on Saturday. In terms of transportation form Tel Aviv to Jerusalem on Saturday, there is the group taxi option (Sherut) from the central bus station in Tel Aviv to Zion square areat in Jerusalem (walking distance to Old City), or there is always the more expensive option - private transfer.
