Tel Aviv to Aqaba in 5 days

Hi we are planning on flying in to Tel Aviv on 20 June 2014 and spend 2 nights there, followed by 2 nights in Jerusalem and then driving down to Eilat on 24 June (stopping at the Dead Sea on the way for a swim!). We would then want to cross the border at Eilat on the evening of the 24th and stay in Aqaba for 3 nights (to see Petra/Wadi Rum).

Is this possible? Would anyone recommend driving the whole way or maybe taking public transport from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and then renting the car when we leave Jerusalem?

Also does the above itinerary work at all or are there any stumbling blocks!

Thanks!

While the idea of just stopping and taking a dip in an unauthorized beach may appeal to some, it is extremely dangerous. Due to the lowering of the water level of the Dead Sea, there are huge numbers of sink holes. THese sink holes are very very dangerous. In order to avoid becoming a statistic and proof of said danger--please everyone should stay off areas that have warning signs and swim only at authorized swimming area.

The hotels are at Ein Bokeq and I listed 2 in my previous answer that do day packages on a regular basis, Crowne Plaza and Lot Hotel. They are very close to each other with the Crowne Plaza being more upscale but the Lot being very nice and at a lower price, may be what you are looking for.

Beach showers in the Dead Sea are free, so if you enter a public beach (public beach have NO entry fees) you don't need to pay for nothing.
