Airport to Jerusalem with Taxi

Hi,

First of all, thank you for great tips. I am planning our trip to Israel by the end of october and I got already so many information. Thanks.

But I still have one question. We will arrive on Sunday in Ben Gurion around 13:00h and we will try to get the Nesher Shared taxi at the airport to Jerusalem, but how to get to our hotel. We will stay at Tamar Residence at Bekka area. Is this area far away from the taxi stop? Can we go by feet to the hotel or should we get a taxi?

We will stay around 4 days in Jerusalem and after we are going to Tel Aviv, we will stay at Savoy. How is the best way to get to our hotel in Tel Aviv?

Thank you

The Nesher sherut takes all passengers to their destination, ie, it will take you to your hotel. You will get a tour of the city if you are the last passenger let off. :-)

Traveling to Tel Aviv - best option is taxi. Expensive. Second option is buses. Take a bus from your hotel to the CBS, from there take no. 480 to Tel Aviv (station called Merkaz or Savidor or Arlozorov). From there take bus no 10. Ask the driver for Yona Hanavi street. Price - bus in town is 6.6 shekels, intercity 18 shekels (is this number correct) so you have 13.2 + 18 = 31.2 shekels per person. Time consuming but reliable and cheap.

The Nesher shared taxi from the airport to Jerusalem is the only one in the country that goes door-to-door; all other shared taxis (called "sheruts") follow a fixed route similar to a bus line. The sherut from Jerusalem to Tel-Aviv starts at the city center and ends near the Tel-Aviv C-B-Station. (Note that the airport is between Tel-Aviv and Jerusalem).

The MoT web site is down, but I recall that the price for a taxi from Jerusalem to Tel-Aviv is about 270 NIS plus a few shekels for each piece of luggage. Service is of course door-to-door. I will post the exact price when the web site is fixed.

From the Tamar Residence by public transport to Tel Aviv:

Walk to Derech Hevron (Hebron Road), no more than five minutes' walk assuming normal fitness, normal walking pace, not masses of luggage.

Cross Hebron Road (a busy highway) - at a pedestrian crossing - and take bus 74 or 75 to the central bus station. Enter the central bus station and go up to the 3rd floor.

Then take bus 480 (they go every 10-15 minutes) as Shoshi said, and continue from there.

If you have a lot of luggage, take a taxi from your hotel to the central bus station. Intercity buses have a luggage compartment.

Thank you again. :) but one more question. Is the savoy hotel in TA far from the bus station? We have only two piece of luggage, so it is not so far, we could walk. :)

If we take the bus 10 in TA, is it stop near the sayon, right? at beach side or at "street" side?

It's too far to walk to the Savoy Hotel.

From the bus terminal where you get off the 480 (in north Tel Aviv, next to Merkaz/Central railway station), take the 10 bus (from the same terminal, it starts there so you can't go in the wrong direction), and get off at Allenby Street. It's 13 stops from the terminal, but the bus might not stop at all of them. Ask the driver to tell you when you get there.

The bus turns left onto Allenby Street, and you get off. Walk back (towards the beach) a short distance to the hotel.

This is all taken from maps and websites (in Hebrew), not from walking around the area. But by the time you get off the bus you will be very close to the hotel and you can ask for directions if you are not sure.
