New low-cost flights between Spain-Turkey

As you already know, Turkish Airlines and Iberia has regular flights between Spain and Turkey. Turkish Airlines flies from Madrid and from Barcelona to Istanbul every day of the week, meanwhile Iberia flies from Madrid only on daily basis to Istanbul. Both airlines use Ataturk airport on the european side of Istanbul.

Now, there are two spanish low-cost airlines starting their daily flights between Barcelona and Istanbul. These new flights will operate from Sabiha Gokcen airport on the asian side of Istanbul. Spanair is starting their flights on May 6th, meanwhile Vueling will start on June 24th.

For your info.

The trouble, Buruksan, is that the Vueling flights arrive in Sabiha Gökcen at some unearthly hour of the morning like 4. a.m. - they operated the same flights last year, but it's only seasonal and they stop flying again in the autumn.

The Spanair flights are from both Madrid and Barcelona and are certainly cheaper than the Iberia fares.

By coincidence I was looking at the cost of a Dalaman-Istanbul-Madrid flight this morning in the event of more volcanic ash interruptions. Flying THY and Iberia (the only way to avoid overnighting in Istanbul), would cost 720 euros one way! Flying THY and Spanair would be around 250/300 euros.
