Beyazit sqaure

I have read in a couple of guide books that there is a flea market in the square. Is this so and how good a market is it? The book seems to suggest it is on daily but no times given!

Any information would be marvellous

there used to be a flea market where they used to sell mostly second hand cameras, cell phones, semi precious stones worry beads, old and new coins and paper bills, medals, etc. But nowadays it's a very small one, only few sellers come there to sell worry beads and coins. It's not like in its glorious days.

It's located between the Beyazit square and the Sahaflar book market. By the way, you can find many old books and miniatures at Sahaflar market.

Just out of interest where is the best place to buy large beads/ jewellery etc?

The Grand Bazaar - but explore deep into the Bazaar as you can find more interesting things and at better prices if you get away from the main 'tourist streets'.

The very central section of the Grand Bazaar (the Ic Bedesten) is wonderful for jewellery.
