Hi capetowngirl,

I advice Al Jamal Restaurant. Address: Meşrutiyet Cad. No: 193, Tepebaşı, Beyoğlu Phone: +90(212)292-2425 (It will serve in an other place during summer season)

Hi: there are many touristic shows in Istanbul in the evening. They include belly dancing and regional dances and music. Some are great fun to see. But if you want something more than the touristy you should check out the wide array of cultural events that are available in Istanbul. Get a copy of Time Out Istanbul and see what's going on during your stay. The Ataturk cultural center in Taxim has wonderful things going on all of the time. Istanbul is full of cultural performances, ballet, musical performances, cinema. Use this link to learn more: http://www.istanbulgay.com/culture.htm

For another event, here's a helpful link: http://www.dancesofcolours.com/

Also consider the Whirling Dervishes which I think should be seen. Check out my Inside Page on them for more info.

The Galata Tower has an evening show which our family enjoyed years ago so check that out too. http://www.galatatower.net/eng/index.php
