Just been looking around TA - because I needed an 'Istanbul fix' and I always enjoy seeing new reviews on hotels we have stayed at in the past.
I was looking at the reviews for the Avicenna (a hotel we have stayed in five times) and I found a recent and very negative review.... I was surprised by this, as we have always found it an excellent hotel. I was more surprised however that was identical in every way (including spelling mistakes!) to a very bad review for the Angel's Home Hotel (which happens to be directly opposite!).
Both reviews mentioned several bad things - including things being stolen from rooms (which is a pretty strong allegation)....
Is there any way these posts can be removed? They are very obviously fake and it seems very unfair on these two hotels for them to be there for potential visitors to see. I know that the one for the Angel's Home had me really worried a bit back as we are planning a trip there, and as a result of this review, I was thinking hard about whether we should visit or go somewhere else (thankfully I have talked to the management there, who have been lovely, and I am very happy). These two hotels could easily lose business as a result of these fake posts.
It looks like there is dirty work afoot (and I suspect that it may be coming from one of the other hotels in the very immediate area - as there are about seven of them almost nxt door to each other - but that is just my guess) - and I think we need to keep our eyes out for these kinds of posts.
We all rely on the forum for good information. Maybe there needs to be 'special reviews' from established TA members so we know ones to take 'special notice' of.
