uzbekistan visa

Just wondering how easy it is to get a visa upon arrival in Tashkent. We will have a LOI issued via a travel agency in Sydney, Australia. They don"t do visas and state we get can one when we get to Tashkent.

Various literature suggests this is not always the case. Any advice greatly appreciated.

You can get a visa upon arrival ONLY if it has been pre-arranged and pre-approved, usually by a local tour operator. You must have documentation from the tour operator - including the telex number from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs - with you when you arrive. It sounds to me like your Sydney agency is not quite on top of things.

Without the proper documentation, you will not likely be allowed to leave the airport.

Officially, it's only possible to get a visa on arrival at the airport if you're coming from a country where there's no Uzbel embassy. Otherwise you'll have to get the visa from the embassy.

I dont know if there's an embassy in Australia. Or a special arrangement can be made by the agent.

no embassy in Australia, we are flying direct to Tashkent. that is, no stopover in a country that has a Uzbek embassy. the agent in Australia uses a local Uzbek agent to organise the LOI.

so we are hoping it will work out O'K.

by the way what is the weather like in September, still warm?

thankyou

Hi,

In case there is no embassy in Australia, you can get the visa at arrival in the airport.

Before you fly, you should get a copy of the paper that has your number. Many airlines check at departure if you have a visa. You can show them the paper, because on the paper is also the remark that you will get your visa at the airport.

When you get to the airport, you should go to the visa counter just before passport control at the left. It says it's open 24/7, but nobody will be there. Get the attention of somebody in uniform and tell them you need a visa. They will inform the people to come. If you arrive at night, it might take some time, I think they have to wake them up at home.

It's not that bad, but adapt your patience to Uzbek standards.

Just to make sure you are clear on this, you can get a visa upon arrival in Tashkent, ONLY if it has been pre-approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and they have issued you what is called a telex number. The LOI by itself will not be enough. The same local agent who arranges the LOI should also be able to arrange for the visa, if they are competent.

I have personally known of people who arrived here without a visa or proper documentation and were not allowed to leave the airport. In one case they had to stay in the airport two or three days before they could arrange a flight out.

The information by a previous poster regarding the visa window at the airport is correct. It is almost never manned and someone will have to be summoned, which can take a while.

Visa of the republic of Uzbekistan is arranged on the base of Invitation Letter (VSL / visa support letter, LOI / letter of invitation).

Below you will find the list of countries which citizens can get Uzbekistan visa directly without Invitation Letter at the consular department of the Uzbek embassies:

Austria,

Belgium,

Great Britain,

Germany,

Spain,

Italy,

Latvia,

Malaysia,

France,

Switzerland,

Japan,

USA.

To obtain tourist Uzbekistan visa invitation letter is arranged by Company or Tourist Agencies, which in that case is inviting side.

Since you are from Australia it is better to get LOI (Letter of Invitation) from Uzbekistan company. Which you can get in 7 days. If you are still haven't got one we will arrange it for you.

This is true - get your Visa from the embassy in your country first - little difficult but not impossible.
