Colombo in August

Dear all, attending a conference at Waters Edge Colombo in August. Any suggestions on things to do for a few hrs each day around conference venue or nearby? How's the weather like during that period? Thanks for help.

Weather is usually quite good in August with some late afternoon/evening showers.

You can see the Parliament from the outside (not far from Waters Edge). There are few interesting temples, e.g. Kelaniya and Gangaramiya, and some colonial buildings in the Fort area. Otherwise Colombo is mainly for shopping.

There is quite a lot to visit in Colombo....buy "The Essential guide for Colombo and its region" by Philippe FABRY at Lakehouse Book and follow their leads!
