Kandy or nuwara eliya

We have a dilemma on our itenary in sri lanka. We reach on day 1 morning and plan to go down to sigriya via elephant orphanage.

Two days there in cultural triangle and then we plan to head out.

We have two more nights in sri lanka, before we take the flight out on day5 night.

We were thinking of going to nuwara eliya and stay there for 2 nughts and then head out to colomboa, a bit of shopping and then on to the airport. Now reading some posts on the forum, i realise nuwara eliya to colombo may be a long and tiring drive. My own preference is to keep driving time limited to maybe 2-3 hours, else the holiday doesnt remain one.

Hence unsure whats the best thing to do. Does it make sense to instead be in kandy for 2 nights, or any other place?

Some posts speak of a place near colombo.

Looking forward to guidance. Thanks so much in advance.

Colombo Airport to Pinnawala will take approx. 2 hours. Pinnawala to Sigiriya will take approx. 2.5-3 hours.

Sigiriya to Nuwara Eliya will take approx. 5-6 hours, and then Nuwara Eliya to Colombo will also take approx. 5-6 hours.

Sigiriya to Kandy will take approx. 2.5-3 hours, and Kandy to Colombo will take approx. 3 hours.
