Red Dot Tours

Has anyone used Red Dot Tours recently? We were going to arrange driver & accommodation independently but are now looking at booking our whole two weeks through Red Dot. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

We can highly recommend Red Dot Tours. They booked the whole tour for us with great activities, a great driver and great hotels.

Service is perfect - on my first inquiry for a recommended tour on the homepage, we promptly got a personalized and adapted offer (to the weather in September). Questions were answered in short time and changes in accommodations were really uncomplicated.

During our tour we had a great chauffeur guide who took us to all his favorite places and shared his knowledge about Sri Lanka and the places we visited with us. On top of that, we had a great time with him with lots of laughs.

Used them for 2 weeks in early December 2016 and they were absolutely fabulous. Our driver Jamaldeen was fantastic and Lahiru (our sale contact) always responded very quickly and gave us lots of choice for hôtels. I strongly recommend them. Isabelle and Thomas Want from France

Hi, I have just noticed your queries about Red Dot. Our review is in Feb 2016 - we were delighted with Red Dot. Lahiru arranged everything very professionally; Ananda was our driver/guide but I think he has moved on to go it alone (after 25 years with Red Dot).

Specifically regarding hotel options/selections, in case you havn't found it here is some great info on their website for their selected hotels which they base their tours upon. We found that airfares through Red Dot were on a par with other sources BUT they had a wider choice of flights at the same cost.

All the best, it's a wonderful country!

We have used Red Dot to organise our two week trip to Sri Lanka and we are on our last day now and very sad to be leaving this beautiful island. Lahiru organised our itinerary very efficiently and we have absolutely loved the recommended destinations. We decided this time that we wouldn't try to fit in too many different places and have to say, it has been the most relaxing holiday ever.

Little Cove, Dickwella was our highlight where we spent 8 blissful nights, being looked after by wonderful staff, headed up by Dinesh and Roman. We will definitely use Red Dot on our next trip.

We've just spent a memorable holiday c/o Red Dot it was nearly 3 weeks Colombo, Putallam, Anaradhapura, Trincomalee, Sigiriya, Kandy, Ella, Yala and Galle. It was easy paced and a variety of accommodation. As other posts have said maybe not the cheapest but certainly value in terms of chauffeur guide and standard of accommodation. We packed in Safaris, Sigiriya Rock, Temple Visits, Tea Factory as well as some activities of our own bike riding, walking and town visits. We would highly recommend Red Dot they appear well connected and reliable we certainly didn't have any concerns.

My wife and I have just returned from a wonderful three week tour of Sri Lanka organised for us by Lahiru of Red Dot Tours and with the brilliant Driver/Guide Ananda. We spent time in the North staying at Mannar and visiting Jaffna. Then the cultural triangle and Kandy before staying at Ceylon Tea Trails which was a high point.

Birdwatching throughout was excellent as were stays at Uda Walawe National Park and the rainforest lodge at Sinharaja. Our final three days were chilling out near Galle, whale watching and indulging ourselves at Why Beach in Thalpe. The best hotels were Lake Lodge at Lake Kandalamar, Castlereagh at Ceylon Tea Trails and Why Beach near Galle, but all our rooms were good with welcoming staff and some were stunning. Only at Palmyra in Mannar was there no hot water for three days! and according to Trip Advisor we were not the only ones to suffer there.

All in all a great holiday in a beautiful country with a gentle people, save for the bus drivers!

Many thanks to Red Dot tours, Lahiru and Ananda.

We booked our recent holiday through Red Dot and found them to be excellent. They were very efficient in organising our trip and really listened to what we wanted. They were also flexible when it came to changing arrangements and dates and were very good value when I compared them to UK based travel companies. We really couldn't fault them at all. Would recommend them highly.

Yes - we have just returned to the UK from a two week private tour in Sri Lanka organised by Red Dot. Everything went very well indeed. The car was fine and our driver/guide was strikingly good at his job. We did a lot of travelling and included many different aspects of Sri Lanka in the tour - scenery, historically important sites, tea plantations and production, similarly for spices, safaris at Yala National Park, staying in high end places, eating well. We asked for and got a busy schedule which would have exhausted any driver - but not ours. Bernard Mendis was the perfect travel companion and guide. He drove considerately and was an astonishingly well informed answerer of many questions. He was also wonderfully tolerant of small changes being made to the journey as we progressed. We went from Colombo to Anuradhapura and Pollonarewa, thence to Kandy and the tea plantation area which we reached by an extraordinary mountain train ride, our driver meeting us at Hatton Station. Yala National Park and safaris followed and our final couple of days were spent at Cape Weligama at the southernmost point of the island before returning to Colombo.

This was a seriously good trip for which Red Dot deserve great praise - for the organisation and for providing Bernard Mendis as our travel companion and driver.

Hope that helps Richard Langhorne
