Dubai to Sri Lanka

Hello

I'm spending a week in Dubai in December and was wondering if anyone has found any cheap deals from there to sri Lanka either with or without accommodation. Also i want to spend the time in a busy built up area of sri Lanka where there is shopping and maybe beach any ideas and hotel recommendations would be gratefuly received, also any travel companies.

Many thanks

Davina

Hi Davina,

One week in Dubai and part of that week another 4 hours flying and later coming back? Quite a thing, but it's up to you...

Direct flights of course on Emirates Airways and Srilankan Airlines, dunno about special offers nowadays.

Best place for you in Lanka would be Mount Lavinia, a suburb of Colombo. It has nice beach hotels (Mt. Lavinia Hotel 4-star, but also cheaper and reasonable ones like Berjaya Mount Beach hotel) and is still only 1 km away from a main shopping area of Colombo, around Galle Road. With e.g. the Majestic City mall and House of Fashions outlet store within 2-3 km.

All the best,

<Erik> & [Sandya]

Air Arabia from Sharjah for $ 360.00 all taxes included + Galle Face Hotel smack bang in the middle of Colombo, even with beach or Cinnnamon Grand or any Hotel you wish.....just ask for a good rate...most Hotels will give you nearly any rate you want to pay.

Hmmmm...

Yes Air Arabia (no-frills) might be good, dunno how far driving from Dubai city.

Galle Face hotel itself is as lovely as Mt. Lavinia hotel BUT only has a beach of 10 meters with often pollution (too close to the harbour, sewers etc.). Mt. Lavinia area has a real countryside-like beach, one only notices that one is in a town if one looks km's further down the sea shore...

Have fun,

BTW Majestic City mall and House of Fashions are about 7 -8 km's towards Colombo ....and with traffic can take you over an hour! No traffic 15 -20 minutes
