Probably a daft question as it doesn't seem to have been asked before on this forum, but, do dophins swim in the waters around Sri Lanka?

We are thinking of taking a family holiday next summer and would hate to miss the opportunity to see them if they are there. If not ,it looks as though there is lots of wildlife to be seen on land!

1. Re: dolphins?

Hi there,

Yes they do but the chances of seeing are not that big.

Best times (we always missed them...):

a) January-February on northwest coast, e.g. Negombo

b) Somewhere later in the year, forgot the specifics, near Trincomalee (east coast). Which is offlimits for tourists due to security, unfortunately, due to security.

So next summer not much chance - but plenty of land wildlife instead, yes!

All the best,

<Erik> & [Sandya]
